Midwest Sand Drags
at Offroad Ranch
Norfolk Nebraska
Just wanted to let everyone know about the new things going on at the drag strip at Offroad Ranch, this year. Including the name change, Midwest Sand Drags (MWSD). Yearly Points Race. New Schedule. and new staff.
Yearly Points Race
We will be having this points race every month on our sanctioned race weekends. It will be a $10 entry for each bike. That $10 will go into a pot each month, and paid back at the end of the year 100% to 1st 2nd and 3rd place, at the first annual Midwest Sand Drags Banquet. Each month, points will be rewarded to the 1st 2nd 3rd place finishers. 30 points for 1st, 20 points for 2nd, 10 points for 3rd, and we will also be giving out 5 points just for participating each week. At the end of the year, the points will be added up, and the winners will be announced.
We will also be adding a kids class, 6 years old to 14 years old, and bikes that run 6.0 and slower ETs. $5 entry, and nice trophies given out to 1st 2nd and 3rd, as well as special tee shirts to all the participants, at the banquet at the end of the year. Points will be rewarded the same way.
We will also be adding a Powder Puff class for all the woman only. Points, Payouts, ect will be the same as explained in the first 2 paragraphs above.

We're 2 weeks out, and the track is looking great. New grass planted thats already starting to grow, new counter built in the timing shack, new water wagon that works great, new pa system, a bunch more sand hauled in on the track, and most importantly... brand new laser sensors for the starting line (pre stage, stage, and guard beams). Now the whole track will be equipped with the latest and greatest that Porta-tree has to offer.
We've went through a whole lot of work and money, to make this the best track it can possibly be. But without racers, we wont have a track much longer. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Please come support Midwest Sand Drags on the weekend of April 20th, and take part in a great drag racing environment. With your help and support, we can make this track one of the premier sand drag tracks in the nation. But we cant do it with out you... the racers.

I am sorry to announce that due to the extreme amount of rain that Norfolk has got, making it impossible for us to finish the work it takes to get the track ready, we have to cancel our first race weekend, scheduled for the weekend of April 21. With the May race scheduled for Memorial day weekend, we will do a regular points race on Saturday, and a double points race on Sunday. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

No, the only time we will actually be racing is Saturday evening. Friday and Sunday is just open track time. Saturday evening we will for sure be doing a points race, and a money race. If there is time and want, we can do more money races.

The points and money race will be in Bracket Racing form. I dont know if your familiar with that, but its a form a drag racing that makes every bike equal. You get 2 dial in runs, to see what time your bike runs. The times get dialed in to the computer, and then the computer will start the bikes based on their time. The slower of the 2 bikes that are racing, gets the first starting light, and gets a head start on the faster bike.
EXAMPLE-
You run a 4.0 in dial in, and I run a 5.0 in dial in. When we are up to race, Ill get a tenth of second head start, and you will have to run me down.
Its actually really simple, and really fun. It makes it so all the bikes can be in the same class, and also makes for bigger payouts in the money races.

Been getting lots of calls, and messages, from people around the area, that are coming Memorial Day Weekend. Sounds like we are going to have a nice turnout. The weather is suppose to be perfect. I know you all are going to love the track, and all the new stuff we changed, or added. The track is going to hook hard, and make for some great times. It holds moister really good, its soft, but not fluffy.
I know people dont like to announce if they are coming or not, but with everything we got on the line, we'd sure like to get a head count of whos coming.
