hey there fellas.... had a quick question about a drum I bought used from a member, It is a 1-5 standard N over ride drum, previous owner said it was cut by rudy kurtz. My question is, are there any springs needed to make this drum work? I thought I read somewhere a while back that the 1-5 standard N trans used a spring on one of the forks or gears... anyone have any experience with this? or maybe a picture by chance?
thanks

yes you need a spring to hold 1st out of gear. without it it will jump into gear from neutral if you rev the bike ( purge, stage, idleing, riding around etc) and may still act up ocasinally. one the the best things you can do is have the drum recut to be a N down style. thats why they are more popular today.
unless i'm writing a BOOK and YOUR paying me i dont have to tell you nothin

i have a N down 1-5 in the bike right now and I am really not a fan of it.... I leave in 2nd all the time and I have had some issues with leaving in 3rd when I thought I was in 2nd, and i have also found myself leaving in 1st when I thought I was in 2nd.... kind of annoying

it is just a carb slide spring that goes in between the case and 1 gear fork on the shift rail.
