Well, I was going to run 300' sand for the 1st time. It was scheduled at Dome Valley, AZ for Nov. 9-12 and it got cancelled this afternoon. I'm not a happy camper, but what really sucks are the people driving long distances.

Looks like I'll be sticking with the asphalt!

Any idea why it got cancelled?

Just so everyone knows, the track will be open on friday night and saturday for some racing if anyone is still interested in attending, it may not be a planetsand event, but it will still be an event and one of the best groomed tracks you will ever see.

Can't help get the word out. I only know two sand guys & that's Angel & Noel. This is my 1st time at 300' sand. I'm a 1/4 mile asphalt guy.

After charlie told me that he was not going to do the race, i posted on here, i know they are talking about me on planet sand, i have no issues with him, i just mentioned that we were still going to run an event this weekend for the racers even if it was not a planet sand event. no harm no foul.

Anybody got some quick tips for a newbe at 300' sand. I've got about 50-60 runs hill shooting with it. I'm going to use the basic hill set-up with a few changes.

7mm Cub on race gas, stock frame, +14 arm, +1 forward on a-arms, quad/rider 540 lbs.

22x11x8 12 paddle extremes, I have no choice!

We used 16/41 (2.56 ratio) on the hill, 1st gear launch (1-4 manual 5&6).

Right now I have it set-up for 17/42 (2.47 ratio) for a 300' baseline.

Clutch primary/base pressure is set between our asphalt set up and our hill set-up. Hill setting had too much base and I think the asphalt base would be too loose. Arm weights I'm keeping with the asphalt weight initially. Pretty sure I'll have to remove some weight.

Launch limiter set @ 10,000 & shift light @ 10,000 same as we use for 1/4 mile asphalt. Probably will have to lower the launch rpm some.

Well, heading out in the morning. Going to Pheonix 1st to meet up with friends and finish the quad conversion from asphalt to sand. Will make it to the track Fri. morning. I hope the weather hold out, Sat. is forcasting rain.
